Here's a collection of some of the software I've put together - it's all completely free for personal use and I hope you'll find at least some of it useful.
While all the software here is used at your own risk, those in a mid-development state, and expected to have 'bugs', are shown as "Beta" versions and are best used within a test environment prior to any use within a live environment - this is especially true if you're a corporate user! In any case, I don't accept any responsibility for issues caused by the use, or misuse, of this software... under any circumstances. Now that the obligatory disclaimer is out of the way, please feel free to download anything that you suspect you'll find useful - if you've then got any questions, comments, complaints or praise, please don't hesitate to contact me using the Contact menu above.
NALalyse allows Novell ZENWorks Sys Admins to quickly and easily sanity check ZENWorks for Desktops Network Application Launcher (NAL) objects through-out a whole NDS Tree, in literally just two clicks.
Its sophisticated rule-base detects dozens of NAL configuration issues, including unintended capture and distribution of machine specific registry and file data such as temp files, pre-fetch files, A/V logs, DHCP assigned data, Explorer MRU entries and browser history and cache entries.
Also comes with a comprehensive set of supporting reports to help document each NAL object examined.
SendSMS is a small 32 bit command line utility which allows a SMS message to be sent to a mobile 'phone via a dial-up modem.
It was originally written as an add-on to an enterprise server monitoring system to provide SMS alerting in the event of problems - however, it's completely self-contained and could be called with a simple command line from any controlling software... even a batch file!
Ticker Tape provides a way for administrators & Help Desks to quickly and easily 'broadcast' different messages to users at multiple remote sites in a non-intrusive way.
It's easy to use administrative interface allows you to choose from either a set of pre-defined messages or construct your own with full control over the message type (ie. whether it's 'informational', 'warning' or 'critical'), which sites the message should be 'broadcast' to and how long the message should be displayed for.
Ideal for proactively advising users of new system issues or updating them of the status of existing issues, keeping them happy and substantially cutting down on calls to the Help Desk!
If any of it proves to be useful to you, particularly in a non-personal setting, a small token donation would be greatly appreciated and encourages future software support, maintenance and development. To donate any amount via PayPal or buy a book for me off my Amazon wish list, please use the buttons!
BeTrayed! is a little utility that allows you to add shortcuts to the System Tray (aka Notification Area)
Items can be added individually or, in batch mode, you can quickly add a collection of tray shortcuts which are managed by one instance of BeTrayed! - great for providing quick access to all those frequently used documents, folders, URLs or applications.
In corporate environments, BeTrayed! also has a few configuration options useful to system administrators who wish to deploy a standard collection of Tray Icons.
